Cami Health Wins $50,000 EFNE Blue Skies Grant for AI-Powered Epilepsy Care Tool

Boston, MA - Cami Health, a digital care management platform for families of children with complex medical needs, has been named the winner of the Epilepsy Foundation New England's 2026 Blue Skies Challenge in the Research in Epilepsy: Innovations to Improve Quality of Life category, receiving a $50,000 grant to advance its Epilepsy Care Companion.

The Blue Skies Challenge is an annual Shark Tank-style pitch competition that brings together researchers, clinicians, and innovators across New England to present bold ideas in epilepsy care. Cami was selected from a competitive field that included a full proposal review and a live pitch before a panel of judges and audience.

The funded project will develop and evaluate the Epilepsy Care Companion, an AI-enabled feature within the Cami Health platform that converts clinical visit audio or post-visit voice notes into structured summaries and actionable next steps — automatically synchronized across all caregivers in a household. The tool is designed specifically for families managing epilepsy alongside intellectual or developmental disabilities or multi-caregiver complexity, where the gap between clinic guidance and real-world follow-through can contribute to missed medications, delayed appointments, and preventable crises.

"Families navigating complex epilepsy care are already doing an extraordinary amount," said Olivia Adams, M.Eng., Founder and CEO of Cami Health. "This grant will let us build the tool they deserve — one that actually bridges the gap between what happens in the exam room and what needs to happen at home."

The 14-month pilot will enroll up to 20 New England families and measure outcomes including caregiver empowerment, post-visit care understanding, caregiver burden, and task follow-through using validated instruments.

Cami Health is a digital care management platform built for families of children with complex medical needs. The platform supports medication tracking, task management, appointment coordination, and multi-caregiver collaboration within a secure, HIPAA-compliant environment.
